Townsend Gas & Oil, Inc. is a family owned and operated business with James L. Townsend and his two sons, Loren and Jeff. The company began in 1985 when Jim Townsend purchased the Liggett Gas & Oil business on Wayne Avenue in Indiana, PA. Jim worked for 23 years as an employee of Buckeye Pipeline Company, where he gained great knowledge and valuable experience with petroleum products. Jim renamed the company Townsend Gas & Oil, and became a Pennzoil distributor for Indiana County. Operating as a sole proprietorship from 1985 through 1990, the business became incorporated in 1991. Then in March 1999, the business relocated to the new site at 1740 Old Route 119 South, Homer City, PA. Our new location includes storage tanks, an office/warehouse/garage complex, and a commercial fueling island.
